A new campaign by Which? which aims to give consumers better value on their enegy deals has now attracted 200,000 registrants.
Entitled The Big Switch, the scheme provides people with a new method of saving money on their gas and electricity bills by speaking to suppliers in an effort to negotiate new energy tariffs.
Richard Lloyd, executive director of Which?, said: "It is fantastic that so many people are taking action to get a better deal on their energy bills.
"We know people are really struggling with bills as their household incomes are squeezed."
Mr Lloyd added that the campaign presents a great chance for energy companies to demonstrate their commitment to providing the best possible energy prices for their customers.
The efforts of Which? may come as welcome news for residents, especially after British Gas' managing director Phil Bentley warned that British residents could be up against substantial increases in their energy bills over the next decade.
