A Christmas letter that is 100 years old was found in a County Down property's flue accessories over the festive period.

Dated Christmas Eve 1911, the letter had been stored in a Dublin chimney for decades. It was Hannah Howard's Christmas wish list, made when she was just ten years old, reports the BBC.

Speaking to the news provider, Victor Bartlem, Ms Howard's son, said: "I simply couldn't believe it. I never knew about this letter. I never even knew it existed.

"I could not believe it, it was absolutely amazing and it is such a sweet, typical child's letter."

The letter included requests for toys, such as a baby doll, and a toffee apple.

Last month, a chimney tailored for Santa Claus was built for a six-year-old in Gloucestershire.

Leo Park prompted the move after his mother Jade began designing a chimney that was not large enough for his expected Christmas visitor.
