The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced its first round of winners for the Renewable Heat Premium Payment competition to install flue accessories in social housing.
Among the 24 winning landlords were City of York Council, Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership in Scotland and the Monmouthshire Housing Association in Wales, with each of them being awarded a share of a £4 million fund to install the technologies.
In total, 125 bids were submitted by the closing date.
Energy and climate change minister Greg Barker said: "This scheme directly targets many of the people who could struggle to pay their heating bills in the winter and I am pleased so many social housing organisations across the country will be able to get a share of the cash."
Mr Barker noted that the scheme will encourage an increase in the number of new heating technologies in social housing, while helping people to handle expensive fuel costs.
