A recent fire in Montreal, Canada, needed the attention of 40 fire fighters, who worked tirelessly to subdue flames that emerged from a building's flue accessories.

Officials were at the scene in the St Lazare region for around six hours earlier this week, after a small chimney fire transformed into an uncontrollable blaze and caused extensive damage to the property, reports the Montreal Gazette.

However, no injuries were reported during the incident and the one homeowner who was inside the building was able to escape safely.

This news comes after the Manchester Evening News reported that a chimney fire in the city forced fire fighters to remove an entire bathroom suite.

Watch commander Martin Matthews, from Altrincham fire station, said: "The fire had been burning quite some time though and caused damage. They will need a new bathroom suite and there was a fair bit of smoke damage as it was an old house, so smoke seeped through cracks."
