Homeowners in the East Durham area may be benefitting from new flue accessories, after a £20 million funding package was confirmed by East Durham Homes.
The company will use the money to improve the state of homes in the region's former Eassington district. This funding includes £13 million from the government's decent homes programme, as well as £6.5 million from Durham County Council, according to the Peterlee Mail.
David Hodgson, East Durham Homes decent homes manager, told the news provider: "The property improvement programme represents a significant amount of investment in our customers' homes."
Heating upgrades will be included in the renovation work, as well as new bathroom and kitchen installations.
Scouts from Barnton are also taking advantage of heating improvements, as the Northwich Guardian has reported that First Barnton Scouts has had its roof and heating refurbished in a £21,000 project.
