Honeywell has added its backing to claims that the Boiler Scrappage Scheme should be reintroduced, which would bring changes for users of flue accessories nationwide.

The firm believes that the initiative will go a long way to saving energy and money for homeowners, while including heating controls in the project will help to boost money and carbon savings, reports HeatingandVentilating.net.

Andy Mansfield, marketing communications manager at Honeywell, told the website: "Bringing the Boiler Scrappage scheme back is a brilliant incentive to help the country beat the energy squeeze and by making heating controls mandatory, it would increase its effectiveness."

Mr Mansfield noted that controlling a home's heating saves £120 on energy bills per year for each household.

Sharing Honeywell's opinion, the Boiler Guide has also backed a re-launch of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme.

A representative from the group said that initiatives such as the Boiler Scrappage Scheme are "worth their weight in gold"
