One of the most advantageous methods of increasing the value of a property is to add insulation among a home's flue accessories, one specialist believes.
Roof insulation can be key in saving money on energy bills, as well as cavity insulation. In addition, homeowners should ensure that their house looks visually appealing from the outside, a representative from the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has advised.
Andrew Leech, executive director of the NHIC, said: "If you're talking about looking at selling a house on then you have got to make it look as normal as possible, you don't want any garish paintings, decorations or [colour] schemes running throughout the house."
Houses that are put up for sale should be in a very neutral environment, Mr Leech remarked.
Elsewhere, the Association of Self Build Architects has underlined that the costs associated with building sustainable homes have dropped in recent years.
A representative from the group noted that the sustainability of homes is now more important among builders.
