A pedestrian who notified a homeowner of smoke being released from their flue accessories has helped to rescue a home in Bury.
More than 30 fire officials were called to Ringshall on Friday (January 28th) after the passer-by saw smoke being released from a chimney and alerted fire teams, according to BuryFreePress.co.uk.
Watch manager for Stowmarket Russell Punchard said: "The lady and her son were in the property and somebody went past and saw smoke coming from the roof. If it had developed you would be looking at a far more serious incident."
Meanwhile, ViewFromPublishing.co.uk has reported that a pub in Sidford has suffered a chimney blaze for the second time in five years.
Two fire engines from Sidmouth attended the blaze, with a third travelling from Exeter and using a hydraulic platform to put out the flames.
Police were also called to the scene in order to control traffic.
