A pilot energy efficiency scheme that aims to renovate the flue accessories of Sunderland homes is to be extended.
Social housing organisation Gentoo is expanding its Energy Saving Bundle scheme, enabling customers in Low Ford to install new boilers and solar panels without any up-front costs, reports the Sunderland Echo.
It is hoped that the work will save families money on their heating bills, while defending them against increasing energy prices.
Speaking to the newspaper, Sally Hancox, director of Gentoo Green, said: "We are delighted to announce the news of our latest partnership as we are keen to deliver warmer homes for our customers."
Ms Hancox added that the firm understands people's financial concerns, especially due to increasing fuel and energy prices.
Her remarks come after Business Green reported that the Carbon Trust has partnered with the Biomass Energy Centre to help businesses that are interested in improving their heating appliances through the Renewable Heat Incentive.
